There are many advantages with civil engineering, Everything is set to a standard and generally a worst case scenario is adopted. This means that roads are drivable, structures stay up and most importantly our sewerage is cleaned and dealt with effectively and our drinking water is safe to drink!but the hours are long, and studying is tedious, you have to learn and remember so much!
But knowing how everything works makes me feel a little safer, and knowing that a number of different things can take more than there specified load is also calming (esp in crowed elevators! :S)
